Hi everyone! Happy Tuesday!
I didn't have the opportunity to post a poll on it's regularly scheduled day, so you'll be getting a little surprise post today. (Surprise!) I hope that the start of the week is going well for everyone. To help break the mundanity of the week, let's talk zombies.
I hit a STRONG zombie phase in my late high school/early college life. The Walking Dead (TV show) had released around that time and I found myself wanting to immerse myself fully into the world of zombies. Before this show released, I think that the first game featuring these reanimated beings was probably Resident Evil Outbreak on the PS2, but I didn't fall fully into the Resident Evil franchise until Resident Evil 5. The idea of zombies is so horrifying, but I'm wondering if anyone else went through a phase like this?
For the gamers though.... what're your thoughts? I'd like to know which game franchise featuring zombies is the best for you? Feel free to explain why as well. They all had unique aspects. I'll be posting trailers from specific games, but I want to look at their franchise as a whole.
Dying Light is a first person, action-survival game. It is set in an open world that can be explored in a much safer way during the day. As you scavenge for supplies, you face the usual horrors of having to fight back flesh eating monsters, but this is the least of your worries. When the sunsets, true nightmares become reality as you fight for survival against zombies and much more dangerous creatures. They are much stronger during the day and the nocturnal creatures show no mercy. Skills, weapons, and reflexes are needed for continued survival.
Resident Evil 2 Remake takes place in Raccoon City. You have the option of playing as a rookie cop, unlucky enough to be working on this particular night, or a woman who is unaware of the outbreak who is there in search of her brother.
Either way, you must survive the horrors by combatting zombies, looking for clues, and surviving experiments let loose by an organization that was meant to protect the city.
The Last of Us is set at the start of the outbreak. You'll play as Joel, a man worn down by time, frustration, and the need to survive. He's tasked with the job of smuggling a 14-year-old girl out of a quarantine zone and across the country. Why? Well, that's for you to find out. You'll learn more about each character as they fight their way through humans, zombies, and other creatures.
(Disclaimer: I kept the original description of this game here because who could beat this. This is cute and clever.)

And now, Let's Vote!
Which Franchise is the Best?
Dying Light
Resident Evil
The Last of Us
Dead Island
I have Project Zomboid on my personal list. so much fun especially with friends. More focused on strategy than beat-em-up, if that's your type of playstyle :)
I realllllllly had to think about which franchise i liked better: RE or TLOU. Ultimately, the latter won out on quality vs. quantity. There are some horrible RE games/movies, whereas TLOU ain't missed yet.
Dying Light was one of my favorite zombie games, I remember the first time I saw an exploder during a cutscene, it horrified me, because it was an up close and personal encounter that we didn't control lol. And then there's the zombie babies that scream your head off 🫠
